Here's one - I wrote it in the spring of 2007 one night when he said
"I like you too much to date you." I never knew what it ment, but it
was just such a simple statement, and it brought a sudden calmness
over me.
Simply
Better apart than
to trust the zodiac.
I am not
a vigilante.
Paper thin steel
can't form a link.
What we all need
is a strength like yours.

I wrote this about a house party noise show we went to in dogtown in
winter 2007.
I was a lover:
too loud of a recording
plays on a speaker
in the front room of a house
party I've attended too often
where trips between rooms
lead us to settle in the basement
to hide behind support beams and
cheap strings of lights.
'its been a war with him.
i yell at you about an ex
as we see him let the
devil in and not forgive
himself, mainly, so we're
left to stare at the specks
of holiday color on one
another's face, beneath the
water pipes during distorted
theremin and choir loops
while you grasp at a water pipe above
our heads to catch me as
he beats me down with his words
of hate and anger.
